Glenorchy boasts many wonderful day walks to explore. The tracks vary in length and fitness level required. The Glenorchy Walkway (a loop track circling Glenorchy and featuring the Glenorchy Lagoon) is right on the doorstep of the Log House. Other tracks are located anywhere from a 5 - 40 minute drive from Glenorchy.
Many tracks are through beautiful native beech forest, with possibilities to see local wildlife, in particular birds.

Many multi day tracks feature an extensive back country hut system. Booking your hut stay in advance is recommended and can be done through the DOC website. Some of the less frequented tracks do not have huts.
